Pet Epitaphs and The Epitaph of Cranes

In daily life, people are no longer lonely because of the company of pets. If one day a pet suddenly dies, will you shed tears for it? After a pet leaves, what would you write on its tombstone? Here are some epitaphs left by pet owners on the tombstones of their furry children after they leave. Back to the Dog Star. Really, the dog is cuter than in photos. Baby, baby, there are no cars coming and going in heaven.

You can run freely. Your arrival has murdered my reason. Hope our story is to be continued. Baby, thank you for choosing me to be your mother. Hope that every day with us leaves only happy and joyful memories. Because heaven needs a perfect pet, so it took you away. Susan, died on January 26, 1959. Loyal company to the queen for 15 years. Going to heaven is also daddy’s good baby. In the city, after work, the thing I want to do most is to miss you.

Back to the Cat Star. No matter what you do, make it seem like something a dog would do. Loves climbing curtains. Timid but extremely curious. Got lost for two days before passing away and was also hungry for two days. Next time if there is a chance, I will still run. Help me up. I can still scratch the sofa. May you be happy and free. Do you guess if a cat is buried here? No, it’s a dinosaur! You are my poem.

I never tire of reading you a thousand times. If there is an afterlife, let’s be sisters. I would rather lose a diamond than have you leave. Because of you, my personality has become cheerful. You left gently, but you will always be in my heart. Introduction to the ‘King of Tablets’, the pet epitaph ‘Epitaph of Cranes’. The ‘Epitaph of Cranes’ is an epitaph written by the owner of a crane for a dead pet crane.

‘Yi’ means bury. The ‘Epitaph of Cranes’ has a full text and preface. Originally, it had more than 180 characters. Later, due to the collapse of the stone, the engraved stones fell into the river one after another. After being eroded by wind and rain, washed by waves, stolen and chiseled, and constantly suffering disasters. In the 22nd year of Qianlong, it was embedded in the wall of Dinghui Temple on Jiaoshan Mountain, with a total of more than 90 characters.

The inscription does not list the dynasty, only records the heavenly stems and earthly branches, and does not sign the real name, only leaving the person’s alias. Later generations cannot infer the accurate engraving date from the content. They can only its engraving date should be before the Tang Dynasty according to the calligraphic features of a combination of regular script and clerical script.

Roughly during the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Southern Dynasties. Tao Jinghong was a scholar-bureaucrat family in the Southern Dynasties. In his later years, he lived in seclusion on Huayang Mountain in Zhenjiang. Some historical records say that he called himself ‘Huayang Zhenyi’, which is consistent with the content in the ‘Epitaph of Cranes’ and is said to be his work. The original text: The crane’s lifespan is unknown.

In the year of Ren Chen, it was obtained at Huating. In the year of Jia Wu, it transformed at Zhufang. Heaven has not fulfilled its will. Am I to soar in the vastness? Why did it take away my crane so suddenly? So it was wrapped in a black and yellow scarf and buried under this mountain. The immortals have no intention of hiding. Therefore, we erect a stone tablet to commemorate this event and engrave an inscription that will last forever.

The words are: Looking at this unborn bird, it is the true form of Floating Hill. It descended in Shanyin and left its voice on the ornamental column.

In the Western Bamboo Legality, there was a fortunate Dan Sui Chen. The truth seems as if it were, yet the matter is also subtle and dark. The crane’s song dissolves, leaving Xin, taking Cao Guo on the left, and cutting Jingmen on the right. It sweeps the floods behind and solidifies the heavy situation ahead. I wish to say nothing, how could you know? It should be directly shown, only to advance and bring peace. Gathering true companions, burying you to make an inscription.

The crane’s lifespan was long. In the Ren Chen year (the 29th year of the cycle), this crane was obtained at Huating. In the Jia Wu year (the 31st year of the cycle), the crane died in Zhu Fang. It had not yet flown, could I fly for it in the vastness? Why did it take the crane’s life so hastily? Thus, wrapped in a dark yellow cloth, the crane was buried beneath this mountain. The hermit in the mountains (people and mountains = immortals) acts without shame, with no hidden thoughts to be seen, hence this stone is erected to record this inscription: Thinking of such egg-laying cranes, living beings by the sea hills, appearing in the wilderness, and crying on the beams of the house.

Western Bamboo Legality, fortunate Dan Sui Chen, the truth seems as if it were, yet the matter is also subtle and dark. The crane’s song dissolves, leaving Xin (the past situation of this crane is vaguely as if, in the method of writing, it is faintly and faintly felt in the dark. The crane’s song is no more, the crane has left). Taking Cao Guo on the left, cutting Jingmen on the right, sweeping the floods behind, and solidifying the heavy situation ahead (when writing, the left part of the brushwork takes the Cao character, the country is big, and the middle is upright, the right part of the brushwork takes the Jing character, the door/knife is like cutting rapidly, the lower part of the brushwork is like the momentum of the floods, broad and long, the upper part of the brushwork is firm and heavy as if solid).

I do not wish to speak clearly, how could you know? Still, I write it directly for you to see, to watch peacefully and honestly, thus using this crane companion, to make this burial inscription.
